Butler Peak W6/CT-009 was the 2nd peak of the day and the only one really worthy of a video as the other two peaks were basically drive ups.
I have noticed my rambling about what I think you "can see' from the GoPro video footage only to finally realize you can't see what I'm trying to show you in the video. From here forward I'll just trim down the length of my videos and maybe add some music and any audio of the contacts with various captions along the way about what I'm "trying" to show you.
I do have a few key things I'm hoping to convey with these videos to help you on your activations:
1-What's the hiking distance and difficulty level. Foot trail, road, bushwhacking?
2-Is there cell service from the trailhead, along the trail, and at the peak.
3-How exposed are you to the elements i.e. shade, sun, weather.
4-Can you activate the peak on VHF only if desired. If so, it will be achievable via a standard HT antenna and not require a beam.
5-Any navigational issues encountered along the trail or finding the trailhead.
6-Any concerns I noted with the entire experience.
7-Trees available to hang a HF wire antenna (or other objects).
8-What I believe are the hightlights and why I would reccommend the trail or not.
9-Audio files of the activation whenever possible.
I do concede this video doesn't achieve the above. My overall goal is to get my storyboard consistent with my above goals to help others while giving me something to look back on should I elect to reactivate the peak in the future.
So for now, enjoy Butler Peak footage as I really liked this hike despite the downpour my daughter Ashlee and I had on our activation.
