Peak #3 of the day and an unactivated peak prior to my arrival. I admit that having several people in a nearby camp sure made activating this peak much easier. I did talk to W6TOD who lives in Inyokern and happens to know KK6PIL with whom I've made contact with on Mt. Baden-Powell, Shadow Mtn, & Red Mountain. Other than W6TOD - Todd, this may be a difficult peak to activate with only VHF.
The summit allows cell service, the trail is clearly marked until you go to the actuatl peak, and the views are spectacular. I was fortunate enough to witness the spring flower bloom covering the desert floor in what looked like a yellow carpet. I could smell the flowers from the peak they were so heavy and it made for a very nice scenery on the short .70 mile one-way hike to the summit from the bunkers and truck. I'd highly encourage any future activators to consider having HF capabilites should you elect to activate this summit due to mic shy people in the valley.
